"I think Eiji was liked by most of the people who met him." Was
what his previous supervisor said, as she said on her little
cubicle desk on the corner of the office in the sales
department. Ryo felt cramped at the little space that he was
stuffed into, but he was alright, writing down the next
interesting thing he had in his notebook. "Eiji even had a few
girls just fall in love with her, including this girl who used
to be the housekeeping supervisor before she left the United
States."
"Really?" Ryo was interested. "What happened with this girl?"
"She had a crush on Eiji." She paused, as if thinking about it.
"At first, she kept quiet, until another girl in her department
convinced her to call Eiji." She chuckled at the memories of the
events. "She called her and said that one of her friends liked
him, and that she was just investigating for her." She paused.
"I think Eiji already knew about the lie, but didn't really tell
her about it at all. She asked her about Eiji's age and his
interests and most of all," She paused again. "If he had a
girlfriend."
"And did he?" Ryo asked even though he already knew the answer.
"No, not at all." She answered. "According to one of his best
friends, Brett Day, he had given up having one night stands and
dating girls whose relationship would last only for a few weeks
or months." Another pause. "He was looking for someone who would
be potential to a long-lasting relationship, probably even
ending in marriage and so on.
"According to Brett, he wanted to just have someone to spend his
life with."
"And was this supervisor the one?" Ryo asked.
"I'm not really sure." She answered. "Me and other people had
told Eiji about it." She smiled. "I even pulled him aside and
gave him her phone number and told him to call her, because she
was way too shy to call him at all." She sighed as she said
this.
"And? How did this all end?"
"It didn't go anywhere." She answered. "He didn't call at all
and the whole thing was basically gone before it even started."
Ryo looked at her with curiosity as he wrote on his notebook.
"What happened to her?" He asked finally.
"She moved back to Korea, after her visa expired."
"I see." Ryo said.
The rest of the stuff she said was about how great Eiji was and
about how he was gonna be missed.
Generic stuff to say about anybody who was dead.
Ryo read all this information as he tried to figure out the
mystery of Eiji's cadaver's disappearance. |
