The address led to a hotel, one that was just by the white sands
of Miami beach, the sea waves resonating in the sky as the sun
slowly rested down below the horizon.
Inhaling all of this, Ryo finally understood why Eiji had given
him this address.
Eiji had said on that day, the last time he saw him before Ryo
left for this trip, "I don't know why you would want to trust me
on this," he said as he sipped more of his tea. "But considering
all the bizarre things that has been happening lately, this
shouldn't be that much out of the ordinary anymore."
"But still," holding the paper, Ryo still didn't know what to
make out of this piece of paper. "Why did you give this to me?
Out of all the people you know?" Pausing, Ryo looked up, still
in shock, at Eiji. "I mean, I barely know you, we didn't even
meet each other till yesterday night." Pausing again, Ryo tried
to organize his mind. "How could this be for me, if I had never
known you before you died? Or even knew of your existence for
that matter of fact."
"Because you're the only link out."
"The only link out?"
"When I visited all my family and friends again, I was able to
reconnect them to a new link, replacing my own with that of
another friend." Eiji replied. "The only loose link that I
wasn't able to connect after all that was done was yours,"
pointing at the paper, Eiji continued. "And that's why this is
yours, Ryo, because out of everyone that I know, or have known
me, you are the only one that is still lonely and disconnected
form it all, the only one that still don't have anything to link
them to the rest of the network."
"But how would you have known that in the first place?" Ryo
asked in confusion. "You didn't even know me, in fact, I'm
pretty sure you don't even know me that well now."
"Yet you were one of the voices who kept calling me back, asking
me questions and requests," Eiji replied. "Somehow, I made a
difference in your life, and changed your path towards another
one future, so, in a way, I do have a link with you, and that
space was still loose when I came back."
Looking at the paper again, Ryo answered. "And what does that
have to do with this at all?"
"That is the only thing I have that doesn't connect with
anything else, just like you, Ryo." Pause, and then in the same
tone. "You can believe me or not, but I do believe that this
will connect that loose link that you have within yourself."
Staring at the paper, Ryo still couldn't believe this. "And is
there a reason why I should believe in this?"
Eiji just shrugged and smiled. "It is all up to you, my friend."
And without a proper good-bye or farewell, Eiji stood up and
left out of the door forever. |
