According to Cyber Tiger, when Ryo met her earlier that afternoon, Eiji was pretty much immersed in work for the last weeks of his life, working sometimes up to seven shifts a week for his hotel. "People kept calling off or going off on vacations, that's what he said." Cyber Tiger told Ryo as she stared off at the oval park in front of them, the bench on the borders of the center heart of the Ohio State University campus, what the students simply call as the 'Oval'. "People were always calling off on vacations since they wanted to travel to places before classes started, or calling off because there was a flu going around the front desk department."
"A flu?" Ryo asked, something about it piked his curiosity.
"Yeah, I think he said that pretty much everyone in the front desk department caught it besides him," Cyber looked up at the flailing trees in the soft winds. "But Eiji rarely caught colds, so it was normal for him to not have caught anything from it."
Ryo thought about the flu, could that have killed Eiji Shinrow? Anything is possible at this moment, and viruses are known to mutate quite quickly and efficiently, so maybe he was carrying a new form of virus that was unable to be detected and kills humans in contact.
It sounded way too sci-fi, but it was at least a shot, Ryo was out of ideas at the moment. Maybe it could be something that sounded as fictional as the novel Ring.
"So what was Eiji Shinrow like when you first met him?" Ryo asked, hoping to get dirt out of her, since only the darker details usually solved the mystery cases.
"I think he just started drawing, because that was when we still had a newsletter for our Anime club, and he was drawing like a two page for them every two weeks." Cyber paused to take a breath. "In fact, that's how I met him, because I saw his stuff on the newsletter, and wanted to know how to get in it also."
"Did he approach you on doing art for him then?"
"No, I believe that was afterwards."
Ryo started to take notes.
